Fennell Tested policies
Privacy Policy
Information about how Fennell Tested operates and how this website may be used.
What this page covers
This policy describes the information practices of fennelltested.com that are built into the site. Fennell Tested does not require an account, and the site code does not run a checkout or set its own cookies.
Contact form (Formspree)
The contact page sends your message to Formspree. The form posts to https://formspree.io/f/xdaqoolb. It does not load a Formspree script.
The fields are name, email address, company (optional), subject, contact reason (optional, and it defaults to “General question”), and message.
A hidden honeypot field is included so automated spam can be filtered. Leave it empty. Formspree receives the submission. Its privacy policy is at formspree.io/legal/privacy-policy/.
Newsletter (MailerLite)
The newsletter form is on the homepage, on the four review pages, and on the extension-cord, generator-fuel, Samsung drying, Samsung electricity, lug-nut torque, and 3/8-versus-1/2 guides. It asks for an email address and posts to https://assets.mailerlite.com/jsonp/2561351/forms/195104445611115616/subscribe. After you subscribe, the page asks you to confirm your email address. The subscription is completed when you use that confirmation email.
MailerLite’s script, loaded from groot.mailerlite.com, is not part of the initial page. It loads when the newsletter section is near the screen, or when you focus or press inside that section. If the script does not load, the form can still submit your email address directly to MailerLite. Once the script loads, MailerLite can store cookies under its own policy: mailerlite.com/legal/privacy-policy.
Google Analytics
Every page loads Google’s analytics tag from https://www.googletagmanager.com/gtag/js. The measurement ID in the site source is G-L25NYXVNCM. If the host sets NEXT_PUBLIC_GA_MEASUREMENT_ID, that value is used instead, and it is the ID in the script address.
The tag sends a page view when a page loads, and another page view when you move between pages without a full reload. Those views include the page address and title. It also records an affiliate click when you use an Amazon or other affiliate link. That event includes the page address, page title, link URL, link domain, link text, affiliate network, and product name when the link provides one. The same event includes that product name as product, and a placement for where the link sits on the page. An outbound click is recorded when you use a link to a different site that is not an affiliate link. That event includes the page address, page title, link URL, link domain, and link text. One click sends either the affiliate click or the outbound click, not both. A newsletter signup is recorded once, when the confirmation message on the newsletter form is shown. That event includes the page address and does not include the email address. A video play is recorded once, when you press the play control on an embedded video. That event includes the video id and the page address.
The site does not show a cookie banner and does not configure Google Consent Mode. The analytics tag loads when the page loads, before you make a choice, and Google Analytics can set cookies such as _ga. Fennell Tested’s code does not read your IP address. Google describes the technical data its tag can receive, which may include IP address, at policies.google.com/privacy and policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
YouTube
Review and guide videos use a click-to-play image hosted on Fennell Tested. The page does not load a YouTube player, a YouTube script, or YouTube’s image servers until you press play. Pressing play loads an embedded player from https://www.youtube.com/embed/ with autoplay turned on. YouTube can then set cookies and collect data under Google’s and YouTube’s policies. A link that leaves this site for YouTube or youtu.be does not embed a player here.
Amazon Associates
Some pages link to Amazon with the Associates tag fennelltested-20 or an amzn.to short link.
As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.
The site does not load Amazon scripts or pixels. If you follow one of those links, you leave this site for Amazon, and Amazon can associate that visit with Fennell Tested. Amazon’s privacy policy is at amazon.com/privacy. A click on an affiliate link can also be recorded by Google Analytics, as described above.
Cookies
This site’s own code does not set cookies. Google Analytics can set cookies when its tag loads on a page. MailerLite can set cookies after its script loads for the newsletter. YouTube can set cookies after you press play. Amazon can set cookies after you follow an affiliate link to Amazon.
How submissions are used
Contact messages are used to read and reply to the request you sent. Newsletter email addresses are used to send Fennell Tested updates through MailerLite. The site code does not sell those addresses or send them to advertisers.
Data retention
The site code does not set a retention period. This website does not store YouTube viewing records or Amazon purchases.
Contact messages for form xdaqoolb are stored by Formspree on the Free plan. That plan allows 50 submissions per month and keeps a 30-day submission archive. Formspree’s account-limits article describes the Free plan as storing 30 days of submission history, with submission allowances starting at 50 per month: help.formspree.io/articles/account-management/account-limits. Formspree’s privacy policy says it retains information for as long as the account is active or as needed to provide the service, and for longer when it keeps information for a legal obligation, a dispute, or an agreement: formspree.io/legal/privacy-policy/.
Newsletter addresses are stored by MailerLite. MailerLite’s subscriber article describes three different actions. Unsubscribe removes someone from the active list and stops newsletters. Delete removes the subscriber from the account and still keeps the information in case they subscribe again. Forget removes the subscriber, and MailerLite says all of that information is completely deleted in 30 days. MailerLite’s privacy policy says it retains subscriber information it processes for a customer only for as long as needed to provide the service or to meet its obligations, and that a person who wants data updated or deleted should contact the customer. Those pages are mailerlite.com/help/how-to-delete-or-forget-a-subscriber and mailerlite.com/legal/privacy-policy.
Google Analytics property G-L25NYXVNCM is set to 2 months for event data retention and 14 months for user data retention. Reset user data on new activity is enabled. Google’s documentation says user-level data can be kept for 2 or 14 months, and that this period also applies to key events. Other event data on a standard property can be kept for 2 or 14 months. Longer event-data choices are listed only for Analytics 360, and Large or XL properties are limited to 2 months. The reset option applies only to user-level data. When it is on, a new event from that user restarts the retention period for the user identifier. These retention settings do not change standard aggregated reports. They affect explorations and funnel reports. The documentation is at support.google.com/analytics/answer/7667196?hl=en.
Privacy requests and deletion
The site has no account page and no delete button. A request to see or delete a contact message, or to delete a newsletter address, goes through the contact form. That form is another Formspree submission. There is no separate privacy email address or postal address in the site code.
The target is to answer a privacy or deletion request sent through that form within 30 days, or in a shorter time where a law that applies to the request requires it. That sentence is the response target. It is not a statement that a particular law applies, and it is not a statement that the site meets that law.
A stored contact message is deleted in the Formspree account that receives the form. Formspree’s over-limit article says deleting an over-limit submission is permanent, and that those submissions follow the same retention rules as other submissions: help.formspree.io/articles/form-and-project-settings/over-limit-submissions. Formspree’s privacy policy says closing the account and then emailing team@formspree.io requests deletion of personal information, except information Formspree is required to retain.
A newsletter address is removed in MailerLite. Forget is the action MailerLite describes as deleting the subscriber’s information, within 30 days. Delete alone keeps the information for a later subscription. Unsubscribe stops the newsletters. MailerLite’s own messages also include an unsubscribe process.
Google Analytics, as configured here, does not receive an account name, so a contact-form request does not identify an individual analytics profile to delete.
